SUBMISSON // Things are getting exciting

The last stretch of Project 1999 streams has been one of those periods where everything seems to click at once. What started as a simple decision to roll fresh characters on the Blue server quickly turned into a string of unexpected encounters, spontaneous grouping, and the kind of organic friendships that only really happen in classic EverQuest. From the first few levels onward, it was clear this wasn’t going to be a short-lived experiment.

Starting new characters always carries a certain energy with it. Everyone is fragile again, gear matters, spells feel impactful, and every decision has weight. On Blue, that early-game tension brought people together fast. Camps turned into conversations, conversations turned into invites, and before long we were running with players we’d only just met, but already trusted with pulls, heals, and crowd control. Those are the moments that make P99 feel alive.

What made this stretch of streams especially memorable was how quickly those early encounters evolved into something more consistent. These weren’t just random passersby — these were players who stuck around, came back, and started planning future sessions together. That momentum is carrying straight into tonight’s stream, where we’ll be grouping up again and continuing to build on what started organically over the last few sessions.

At the same time as the new beginnings on Blue, there was also a major milestone unfolding on the Green server. Velanni officially reached level 60 on her Druid, marking the end of a long and demanding journey which tooke just under 2 years. Anyone familiar with Project 1999 knows that hitting 60 isn’t a quick grind — it’s weeks and months of careful play, travel, camps that don’t always go your way, and a lot of patience.

Watching that final push come together was a reminder of just how different this era of EverQuest feels compared to modern games. There are no shortcuts, no instant queues, and no guarantees. Every level earned represents time spent learning zones, managing risk, and relying on other players. Hitting 60 felt less like a checkbox and more like the closing of a chapter.

What tied both servers together during these streams was the shared sense of progress. On Blue, everything is fresh and uncertain. On Green, the achievement reflects experience and persistence. Together, they show both ends of the P99 experience — the excitement of starting something new and the satisfaction of seeing a long-term goal finally completed.

These sessions have also reinforced why streaming Project 1999 continues to resonate so strongly. It isn’t just about efficient leveling or chasing best-in-slot gear. It’s about the stories that form naturally when players slow down, communicate, and actually rely on one another. Those stories are what linger long after the stream ends.

We’re going live again tonight and picking up right where things left off. The new Blue server characters are ready to keep pushing forward, the group dynamics are forming, and there’s no telling what unexpected moments will come out of the next session. Whether you’ve been watching regularly or you’re jumping back in for the first time in a while, tonight’s stream is shaping up to be a good one.

If you enjoy classic EverQuest for the same reasons we do — the pacing, the social friction, the shared victories, and the occasional chaos — come hang out with us live. There’s a lot happening right now, and this feels like the beginning of another memorable run.

Stream Update // The Retro Vault Is Open

For a long time, the stream has been home base for Project 1999. Long grinds, corpse runs, late-night camps, and that familiar EverQuest comfort have been the foundation of what we do here.

That isn’t changing.

But the stream is evolving.

We’re officially opening the vault and expanding the games we play to include a rotating lineup of classic retro titles across multiple iconic consoles. This means more variety, more nostalgia, and more chances to jump into games that helped define entire generations of players.

The retro expansion includes games from the NES, SNES, Nintendo 64, and the original PlayStation. These are the eras that gave us unforgettable worlds, legendary soundtracks, and gameplay that still holds up decades later.

On any given stream, you might see us diving into a classic Zelda adventure, running through Mario stages, getting lost in a Final Fantasy story, reliving intense GoldenEye matches, or revisiting cinematic PlayStation experiences like Metal Gear Solid.

The goal isn’t to rush through these games or treat them like checklists. Some nights will be long-form RPG sessions, others will be shorter, more casual playthroughs, and sometimes we’ll just drop into a game for the sake of nostalgia and good conversation.

What stays the same is the atmosphere. The stream remains a laid-back place to hang out, talk games, share memories, and enjoy the kind of experiences that made gaming special in the first place.

This expansion also means the stream can shift eras from day to day. One night might be EverQuest in Norrath, the next might be 16-bit classics or early 3D adventures. You never quite know what’s coming next, and that’s part of the fun.

If you grew up with these consoles, this is a chance to revisit games you remember fondly. If you didn’t, it’s a chance to see why these titles are still talked about, shared, speedrun, and celebrated today.

Check in, see what game is on today, and come hang out. The retro vault is open, and there’s a lot waiting inside.

Story Vault // New Fragment in the Archives

Today’s blog entry belongs to the Story Vault. This is where all the narrative fragments, weird transmissions, and half-dreamed ideas land before they thread themselves into games, streams, or music.

The social broadcast for today is tuned to highlight Story Vault and invite people into that part of the AEthan Skot ecosystem. I want every daily post to feel like a small, self-contained invitation rather than just another piece of promo text.

Story Vault entries usually start as sentences that won’t leave me alone: a line of dialogue, a strange image, or a “what if” that doesn’t belong anywhere else yet. From there, I grow them into scenes or lore fragments that can stand on their own but also connect to the larger AEthan Skot universe.

All of this connects back to the core idea behind the AEthan Skot brand: one interconnected universe where streams, games, music, and stories are different entry points into the same signal. However you show up — lurking in chat, listening to a track, reading a story, or trying one of the prototypes — you’re part of the world I’m building.

If you want to explore more of the Story Vault, you can start here: https://aethanskot.netlify.app/storylines. I’d love to hear what kind of stories or formats you want to see more of in this universe.

AE Labs // Prototype Progress Report

AE Labs has been busy again, so this entry is all about the game dev side of the AEthan Skot universe. I’ve been iterating on small prototypes, testing out mechanics, and trying to figure out what actually feels fun in the first five minutes.

The social broadcast for today is tuned to highlight AE Labs dev work and invite people into that part of the AEthan Skot ecosystem. I want every daily post to feel like a small, self-contained invitation rather than just another piece of promo text.

Most of these prototypes may never become full releases, and that’s okay. Each one teaches me something about pacing, feedback, and how players naturally try to break the systems in front of them. The goal is to learn fast, keep what works, and quietly retire what doesn’t.

All of this connects back to the core idea behind the AEthan Skot brand: one interconnected universe where streams, games, music, and stories are different entry points into the same signal. However you show up — lurking in chat, listening to a track, reading a story, or trying one of the prototypes — you’re part of the world I’m building.

If you’re curious where these prototypes eventually surface, keep an eye on AE Labs updates here: https://aethanskot.netlify.app . I’m always interested in hearing what kinds of systems and stories you wish more indie games would explore.

DATA RECEIVED // riftSignal Radio Waves are broadcasting

Rift Signal — Planar Pulse & New Playlists Incoming

While most of the recent updates have focused on games and systems, this week a lot of energy went back into Rift Signal — specifically the Planar Pulse feed and how music will connect to the wider AEthan Skot projects.

Planar Pulse — More P99-Inspired Tracks on Deck

Planar Pulse is the EverQuest / P99-inspired side of Rift Signal, and the next batch of tracks is now in preparation for upload. The focus right now is on:

  • Building out a small library of grind-safe loops that feel like they belong in long camp sessions and corpse runs.
  • Dialing in the zone moods — haunted houses, treetop cities, snowy runs, and that late-night tunnel energy.
  • Making sure the tracks sit in the background comfortably so you can play or stream with them on without the music fighting the game audio.

The goal for this next push is to get Planar Pulse to a point where it feels like a repeatable station: you tune in and it just works for EverQuest-style grinding, whether you’re on P99 or anything with that same old-school MMO pace.

New Rift Signal Playlists for AEthan Skot Projects

The other piece in motion is building project-based playlists that tie directly into the AEthan Skot brand — games and storylines, not just general synthwave.

Right now the planning board looks like this:

  • A playlist for One More Job and other space-focused projects — tracks built for long hauls, navigation screens, and quiet tension between jumps.
  • A darker, heavier lane for horror and mystery stories — the Ganzfeld / “What Lies Inside” style investigations and slow-burn weirdness.
  • More focused expansions around Planar Pulse itself as the P99 / MMO grind channel.

The idea is simple: if there’s a game, story, or world running under the AEthan Skot banner, it should have a Rift Signal route that matches its vibe — a place where the soundtrack for that universe can live.

What’s Next on the Music Side

  • Finish and upload the next wave of Planar Pulse tracks so the station feels more complete for P99-style sessions.
  • Lock in the first round of project playlists (names, cover art, and track order) for space, horror, and MMO-focused sets.
  • Start syncing blog updates with new uploads, so each major release gets a short breakdown here on the Broadcast Log.

As the games and stories grow, Rift Signal is going to be the audio side of the universe. This update was mostly groundwork, but it sets up the next phase: more uploads for Planar Pulse, and the first proper playlists tied directly to AEthan Skot worlds.

INCOMING TRANSMISSION // One More Job – First Playable Build Online

>

One More Job — First Playable Build Online

Today’s update is all about One More Job — our “just one last contract” space game that’s finally hit a basic playable state on the site.

The first big hurdle was getting past the “great on paper, broken in practice” stage. Systems like fuel, O², trading, and AI ships all worked in isolation, but tying them together into a single, stable loop took more time than expected. Once everything was wired up, small issues (timers, movement, edge cases) made the game feel janky instead of intentional, so most of the recent work has been about smoothing that out.

Right now, here’s what’s live in the test build:

  • You have a ship you can actually fly around the system.
  • There are some basic AI NPC ships moving around.
  • A trading system is in place so you can buy/sell and get a feel for the economy loop.
  • Fuel and O² requirements are active, so resource management already matters.

It’s not a full game yet, but it is a playable environment you can poke at and break, which is exactly what this phase is for.

Up Next for One More Job

  • Fully built-out map: turning the system into a proper navigable space instead of a rough test layout.
  • Orbiting bodies: getting planets and objects properly orbiting the sun, so the game feels like a functioning solar system instead of static points in space.
  • Potential combat layer: exploring a simple combat system so taking “one more job” feels risky, not just logistical.

For now, the goal is to nail the core loop: fly, trade, manage fuel/O², and move through a living system that doesn’t feel static. Once that feels good, we’ll layer on more tension and decisions — whether that’s combat, contracts, or more complex NPC behavior.

The basic test build for One More Job is live on the site now, and this blog is where I’ll keep breaking down what changes between each iteration.
